the works of olivier de bayonne

"o! how those locks of lustrous midnight deep"

O! How those locks of lustrous midnight deep
Envelop me as would the raging sea
Though from such a prison, who would be free?
Rather might I beg for my chains to keep
For from her glance I may true beauty reap
And thus in adoration I will be.
Is there no one who might have heart to see?
This faith, assur'd, hath the much smaller leap.
Yet alone, if I must, I shall endure
And seek the riches overlook'd by men
That this ill form might in her find a cure
To the plagues which reign o'er all that we ken.
Yet, seeking this, do I desire all,
Or through my lust relive that mighty Fall?

explanation (razo):

This is one of several sonnets I wrote back in 2002 when I was in a Renaissance poetry class and I wanted to try writing a few different love poems. It's really nothing spectacular.
